    Bratislava hosted the Pact of Free Cities

    Bratislava, 13 May 2026 – Yesterday, Bratislava hosted the Pact of Free Cities summit, which associates the mayors of foreign cities supporting freedom and democracy. Mayors and representatives of Budapest, Warsaw, Paris, Amsterdam and others – a total of 20 mayors and political representatives of cities from different parts of the world – came to the capital city to discuss democracy and the protection of it. One of the important conclusions of the summit was the expansion of the Pact into the transatlantic space and the acceptance of 10 new members – mayors of cities from the USA.

    Bratislava has a new sports hall

    Bratislava, 3 May 2026 – The Mayor of Bratislava, along with the Mayor of Bratislava’s Nové Mesto borough, officially opened a completely new, modern and safe sports hall in this part of the city today. This means yet another promise fulfilled by the city’s leadership, when, after the imperative demolition of the old hall, a clear commitment was made that a new multi-purpose sports hall would be built on its original site.

    Bratislava, 24 April 2026 – On Thursday, 23 April, the ceremonial granting of the Bratislava Mayor’s Award 2026 took place at the P. O. Hviezdoslav Theatre. The award is intended for those who have shown interest in their surroundings and the city and who are changing it for the better. A total of 7 awards were presented in the form of a print by M. Cipár. The Mayor’s Award ranks among the city’s most prestigious awards.

    A huge sports project in Bratislava

    Bratislava, 22 April 2026 – As many as 8 football pitches, an athletics stadium meeting international standards and a multi-sports city arena should be added to the well-known and popular location of Bratislava’s Zlaté Piesky. The closest thing to being implemented is a large youth football academy, based on an agreement between the capital city and the ŠK Slovan football club.

    Bin lorries in Bratislava will be brought to life with new decals

    Bratislava, 20 April 2026 – Starting in May, Bratislava’s bin lorries will be running with new colourful decals that will come to life directly on mobile phone screens. The company Odvoz a likvidácia odpadu (OLO), in cooperation with the capital city, is introducing a unique technological innovation with elements of augmented reality. Upon pointing a mobile phone at the image on the vehicle, the image will come to life and turn into a short interactive experience for children and their parents.
